Myanmar has been in the period of rapid development. Changes occurred everywhere in the country, especially the construction.

The road to Ko Thaung was under construction, the bus couldn't drive through it. We then had to walk a short distance with the opportunity to see the local life who needed to adapt themselves to this big change.

เมียนมากำลังพัฒนาประเทศด้วยความเร่ง มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงเกิดขึ้นให้เห็นทุกพื้นที่ โดยเฉพาะการก่อสร้าง 

ถนนไปโกตอง์ก็กำลังก่อสร้าง รถใหญ่ผ่านไม่ได้ เราต้องลงเดินเท้าเข้าไประยะทางไม่ไกล และทำให้ได้มีโอกาสเห็นภาพชีวิตของชาวบ้าน ที่จะต้องปรับตัวกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่นี้

Students in green uniforms were cycling to their school. This young generation group was likely to be both affected by and influencing of this big change, both on these roads and their life paths.

To confront this disruptive change successfully, the people especially the young generation must be properly armed with the intellectual weapons by the education system that concerned about the local context, needs, and way of life, not just for the examination or paper-based assessment from the central authority.

Byala ปยาละ

In front of Mrauk Oo Nawarat Hotel (မြောက်ဦး နဝရတ် ဟိုတယ်) that we stayed, there was a sculpture of a mythical animal called 'byala' (ဗျာလ) in Rakhine or 'nawarupa' (နဝရူပ) in Burmese. Literally, it means 'nine images' and is composed of nine animals: elephant's nose, rhinoceros' horn, lion's head neck and legs, deer's eyes, horse's ears, tiger's canines, parrot's tongue, serpent's body, and peacock's tail.

Rakhinese believed that this animal will bring us a good luck. 

หน้าโรงแรมมรัคอูนวรัตน์ หรือนพรัตน์ (မြောက်ဦး နဝရတ် ဟိုတယ်) ที่เราพัก มีรูปปั้นสัตว์มงคลของชาวยะไข่ที่เรียกว่า 'ปยาละ' (ဗျာလ) หรือที่ทางพม่าเรียกว่า 'นวรูปะ นวรูป' (နဝရူပ) ซึ่งแปลตามตัวว่า 'เก้ารูป' หมายถึง ประกอบด้วยสัตว์เก้าชนิด คือ งวงช้าง นอแรด หัวคอขาสิงห์ ตากวาง หูม้า เขี้ยวเสือ ลิ้นนกแก้ว ตัวงู และ หางนกยูง

ชาวยะไข่เชื่อว่า ปยาละ จะนำมาซึ่งความโชคดี

เช้านี้ต้องตื่นตีห้า มีนัดออกจากโรงแรมตอนตีห้าครึ่ง เพื่อจะไปปีนเขากันตั้งแต่มืด
